Bicycling Western Australia (BWA) acts for the benefit of it's members and the wider bike riding community to develop bike riding for the health and wellbeing of the WA community. BWA works with all cycling groups, community groups, government departments and corporate organisation to achieve a coordinated approach to improve and encourage cycling activities and to achieve the best outcome for all.We have over 9000 members and friends and growing steadily.

Our objectives are:

  • Getting More People Cycling More Often through our participation events, campaigning and community initiatives
  • Improving the health of Western Australians and our community
  • Serious Fun for Recreational Cyclists

BWA has grown out of the events series Cyclo Sportif which was established in 2006 and run by a group of hard working volunteers.

BWA is now Western Australia’s largest and most prominent cycling organisation. We have a strong and growing membership supported by cycling events, programs and communications that promote and encourage cycling in all forms.

Cyclo Sportif has remained a major part of the organisation and is run as the popular participation series by the events arm of the organisation.

Under Bicycling Western Australia we have exceeded the expectations of the board with a strong membership base, a thriving events program and numerous successful community programs. We now have a membership and friends database of over 9000, a 100% growth from 2009.

Under our mission of “More People Cycling More Often” we have aimed to improve and develop bike riding and the health and wellbeing of the Western Australian community. BWA caters for all types of riders from novice and young family riders to the cafe and lyrca cyclists.

As well as the Be Active Cyclo Sportif Series we have developed a strong Ride to Work program, the Ride2School program, and other participation events. We are also working closely with other cycling organisations, councils and government organisations in an effort to achieve an effective and coordinated approach to getting more people riding throughout WA.

Bicycling Western Australia is run by a dedicated volunteer Committee and supported by 2 full-time and 1 part-time staff members.

Everything we do is aimed to directly benefit our members. If you have any suggestions on how we can help improve bike riding in your area, please contact us.
