Work in Progress
About this page
This page will inform you of current work underway in WA on roads, cycle paths or PSPs.
21 July - PSP disruption - Perth Station, Roe Street, Perth
The PSP near the Horseshoe Bridge will be partially closed between Thursday, 22 and Sunday 25 July.
21 June - Shared path near Narrows Bridge
Work being done on an area near the Narrows Bridge has meant a detour will be in place which will utilise an existing Path which runs through the adjacent lake area. This detour is 140m more than the original Path and it will be clearly marked as the detour route.
Up until now Mainroads has managed to keep the path open to users, with the exception of when deliveries have been made to the site.
The action of the loaded trucks crossing over the path to access the site has caused some damage; in the interest of Public Safety the path is to be closed from Wednesday June 23 until completion of the works. In addition to the damage sustained there will be earthmoving machinery working in very close proximity to the Shared Path and this also puts the safety of Path users at risk.
Mainroads has made the decision to close the path to ensure the safety of workers and users isn't compromised.
It is expected these works will last until September although every effort is being made to minimise the time required.
2 June - Kwinana Freeway PSP
Mainroads is currently carrying out a widening project on the PSP next to Kwinana Freeway. The 2 km stretch of PSP between Millpoint Road and South Terrace will be under construction between the 8th and 24th of June. This section of path is very popular with riders and walkers alike so please take care.
17 - May - South Perth Foreshore
There will be continuing upgrade work occurring in St James Mitchell Park, South Perth over the next few months.
A new cycle path is being constructed between Coode St and Ellam St to enable the separation of bike riders and pedestrians. This will allow cyclists to have their own path all the way from the Narrows Bridge to Ellam St.
The cycle path around the South Perth foreshore is closed for repair from the 17th to the 25th of May.
5 May - Work on Apple St
A problem reported by one of our members is now in the process of being fixed.
Main Roads contractors have confirmed just north of Apple St to the boundary of Brand Hwy has been re-line marked but between Hadrill Street and Apple Street is yet to be completed but will be done soon.
4 May - PSP extension work continues around Greenwood Station
A detour to the PSP near Greenwood Station (intersection of Mitchell Freeway and Hepburn Avenue, Kingsley) will be in place from Monday, 17 May 2010.
For three weeks, the PSP will detour into Perivale Close, along Wimbledon Drive and Willesden Avenue before joining the PSP that leads up to and runs along Hepburn Avenue. Directional signage will be in place. A map showing the detour is attached.
12 Apr - Dual Use Path Upgrade
This week the City of Canning Council will be upgrading about 1km of the Dual Use Path along the Shelley Rossmoyne Foreshore. They will be improving the surface of this popular path which was last upgraded 40 years ago.
April - IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR PEDESTRIANS AND CYCLISTS
PSP users will be diverted from the southern end of the footbridge (over the freeway off ramp) on to a new path. This path leads up to the Hepburn Avenue traffic lights to cross to the existing station car park to meet up with the south bound PSP. Detour signage will be in place.
This detour will be in place from Friday, 9 April for approximately two months while a new PSP is constructed alongside the Mitchell Freeway.
