Cambridge Council wants to build a $1.6 million bike path along Salvado Road.
Salvado bike path
Town of Cambridge Mayor Simon Withers said it would mean spending more than a year’s budget for bike paths on one path. “This is the missing link,” he told the town’s community and resources committee.
Mr Withers said the path would link West Coast Highway to Subiaco Oval, be close to all facilities on Cambridge Street and pass the town’s biggest employer, St John of God Hospital. “It will be great for anyone wanting to get on their bike adn go to Bunnings,” he said.
Mr Withers wants the council to earmark $800,000 in the next year’s budget and ask Subiaco council to do the same. Cambridge councillors will be asked to back the idea. Salvado Road is the boundary between the two council areas.
